Isles of Scilly

Just 28 miles off the Cornish coast, the isles of Scilly are a unique, sub-tropical haven for a variety of wildlife and our holiday allows plenty of time to enjoy and explore these busiest surroundings.

Commentary on our guided tour of the island will provide insight into life on the largest island in the archipelago. Explore Hugh Town – the Islands capital - situated between two beaches and home to a variety of shops art and craft galleries and restaurants. Porthcressa & Town beaches are within a short walk of our hotel and certainly worth time here to relax and take in the tranquillity of this lovely island.

Bell Rock hotel, St Marys ***

This small hotel has been welcoming for over 100 years and is situated in High Town, the capital of St Marys. It has a relaxed, informal atmosphere and enjoys a high level of repeat business thanks to the personal and attentive services. The indoor pool is exclusively for guest use plus bar lounge and dining room. All rooms are en-suite with bath or shower, TV, DVD player, radio, hairdryer, telephone & tea and coffee making facilities - some sea views (Top floor)

MOBILITY: There is no lift at the hotel. This is a historic building and guests will encounter steps throughout, including the ground floor. The hotel is not suitable for wheelchair access and guests do require a level of mobility to enjoy their visit to the Scillies to the full – this includes an approximate 10 minute walk from the ferry to the hotel.

Bell Rock hotel, St Marys ***

This is a historical building built over 100 years ago with eight steps leading into the entrance of the hotel. Due to its age, guests will encounter steps throughout, including the few ground floor bedrooms and access to the bar and restaurant. There are a limited number of easier to access rooms, however these will still involve some steps. There are no adapted rooms for the less able and owing to the layout and subsequent steps, the hotel is not wheelchair friendly.  The Bell Rock does not have a lift.

Location

The Isles of Scilly are outstandingly beautiful and unspoilt. Consequently, you will find that the destination does not offer the same facilities as on the mainland, such as large supermarkets and banks, and guests will need a level of mobility to access the ferry, where the crossing takes approximately three hours, and enjoy the islands.  Guests will need to appreciate that they will encounter gradients and rough terrain.
