Gardens, Castles & Mountain of Wales

Possibly not as well-known as some parts of Wales, mid-Wales has some very impressive gardens and castles just waiting to be discovered. Powis Castle near Welshpool is a medieval castle, fortress and country mansion. Take a trip through the Cambrian Mountains to the Elan Dams before travelling by train to Aberystwyth. Finally, there is Llanerchaeron, a National Trust property. This 18th century Welsh gentry estate with house, walled gardens and farm, remains virtually unchanged since it was designed and built in 1790.
