Door to Door

The quintessential English Riviera has miles of breathtaking coastlines, picturesque villages, palm trees, piers, dramatic cliffs, and its own mild microclimate, making it one of the best places to visit in the UK. We begin by boarding a Dartmouth Steam Railway train in Paignton for a 30-minute journey to Kingswear, which offers breathtaking views of the coastline along the way. We take the foot passenger ferry across the River Dart to Dartmouth, where we join a one-hour circular river cruise. Visit Buckfast Abbey, perched in the shadow of Dartmoor and surrounded by a beautiful, wooded valley and the River Dart, with a quick visit to the fishing town of Brixham, before a return ferry to Torquay admiring the panoramic views of the English Riviera.

This beautiful 3-star family-run seaside hotel, formerly the Russian Royal Family’s home in Torquay, sits majestically looking out to sea. The hotel has 2 acres of grounds overlooking Meadfoot Beach, with a newly built Gallery Lounge and sea-view terrace. The spacious and elegant Romanoff Restaurant has been awarded with an AA Rosette. All bedrooms include TV, tea/coffee facilities and hairdryer. The hotel has a lift.

Day 1

Your holiday starts with a pick up from home by one of the vehicles from our Door to Door service and this will bring you through to our coach. A suitable stop will be made in Worcester en-route for lunch (not included in the cost of your holiday) and we'll aim to be at the hotel by late afternoon.

Day 2

Excursion to the historic, maritime city of Plymouth, famous for Sir Frances Drake, who apparently finished a game of bowls on Plymouth Hoe, before heading out to sea and defeating the Spanish Armada. Return on a picturesque journey through the heart of the Dartmoor National Park, famous for its ponies and stunning scenery.

Day 3

From Paignton, board a steam train along a stunning stretch of coastline to Kingswear, from where you catch the foot passenger ferry to the historic maritime town of Dartmouth, with its ancient narrow streets, boutique shops and art galleries. In the afternoon, you could enjoy spectacular views of castles, the Britannia Royal Naval College, Sir Walter Raleigh's Boathouse, Greenway Quay and the estate of the late Dame Agatha Christie, on a one hour circular harbour/river cruise from Dartmouth or continue to the historic town of Totnes.

Day 4

Soak up the atmosphere, the parks, the gardens and all that Torquay and Paignton have to offer

Day 5

Once breakfast is over, we check out from the hotel and make our way home at lunchtime before returning you to your drop off point where one of our Door to Door vehicles will be waiting to take you back home.
