The Cotswolds, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, famous for hundreds of honey-coloured limestone villages is one of England’s favourite destinations.  Our picturesque tour offers a full day touring this most quintessentially English scenery. We visit Anne Hathaway’s cottage, the childhood home of Shakespeare’s wife, which has been described as the most romantic in England, before enjoying the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon.  A ride on the Severn Valley Railway takes us to Bridgnorth before we go onto explore Ludlow.

 

Stourport Manor Hotel, Stourport****

Once a Victorian Manor House, the hotel stands in landscaped gardens on the edge of Stourport-on-Severn.  The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and have TV, tea and coffee making facilities and ironing facilities. Leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room.  There is a restaurant and lounge bar and a lift.

5 Days/ 4 nights

Day 1

Your holiday starts with a pickup from home by one of the vehicles from our Door-to-Door service which will bring you to meet our coach. Once everyone Is on board, we'll make our way to Stourport with a suitable stop en-route around lunchtime. We'll aim to be at the hotel late afternoon.

Day 2

We make our way to Anne Hathaway's Cottage, the beautiful 500-year-old cottage where Shakespeare courted his bride-to-be. You'll have plenty of time to explore the cottage and the gardens before we make our way to Stratford-upon-Avon for the afternoon, where you'll be spoilt for choice with things to do. Amongst the many attractions are Bancroft Gardens, Holy Trinity Church where you'll find Shakespeare's grave, and Shakespeare's Birthplace.

Day 3

Leaving the hotel after breakfast, we make our way to the Cotswolds. Picture postcard villages with their chocolate box cottages abound here and our route will take you through Cirencester and Northleach to Bourton-on-the Water and then on to Stow on the Wold and Moreton in Marsh finishing in Broadway. There'll be plenty of opportunities for strolls, refreshments and photographs.

Day 4

Our day starts with a single journey on the Severn Valley Railway from Kidderminster to the historic town of Bridgnorth.You'll have time to explore and enjoy Bridgnorth, once one of the busiest river ports in Europe. The river divides the town into High Town and Low Town, the two being linked by seven sets of ancient donkey steps and a Victorian funicular, the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway. Leaving here, we'll make our way to Ludlow, a little gem of an ancient town with over 500 listed buildings.

Day 5

Leaving the hotel after breakfast, we make our way to the traditional market town of Melton Mowbray, famous for its pork pies and Stilton cheese. Leaving there, we'll make our way to your drop-off point where the Door-to-Door vehicles will be waiting to take you home.
