The town is known for its beautiful gardens, preserved buildings, and independent shops. Visitors can enjoy a 1 ½ hour cruise along the River Exe, visit Budleigh Salterton, and explore East Devon's largest town, Exmouth. Forde Abbey and Gardens, home to stunning Mortlake tapestries, is also a must-see.
