Scot in Miniature
The mere mention of Scotland usually conjures images of towering mountains, vast sparkling lochs and sweeping moorland its all wide-open space, epic (changeable) weather and big feelings, so to consider Scotland in miniature is laughable.
The title Scotland in miniature is given to the Isle of Arran because it features a bit of everything that Scotland is traditionally associated with mountains, forests, beaches and glens. Dramatically set against the backdrop of Goatfell Mountain, the grand red sandstone Scottish baronial-style castle has stunning views over Brodick Bay to the Firth of Clyde. The grounds and surrounds are definitely worth a view, with landscaped gardens, woodland trails, wildlife ponds and waterfall theres plenty to explore and enjoy.
Whether youre a die-hard Burnsian or brand new to the Bard, a day at the Robert Burns Museum will open your eyes and ears to an enduring hero of Scotlands literary heritage. The museum has a complete range of Burns relics, including the original manuscripts and personal effects and is arguably the most comprehensive museum about his life, work, political beliefs and relationships.
Culzean Castle isnt your typical Scottish castle in that its not crumbling to bits and hasnt been in conflict with the English. Culzean is notable for its elegant oval staircase, circular saloon, painted ceilings and unique greenhouse.
There will be a visit to the original Mackintosh at the Willow Tea Rooms, which opened in 1903 and are of huge importance to Glasgows architectural and cultural heritage and are the only surviving Tea Rooms designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Retaining its original function as a tearoom, visitors can both view the impressive interiors and enjoy afternoon tea.
