Gretna, the Gateway to Scotland

Our base is Gretna, known for its greenery and runaway couples; it is definitely the greatest entrance into Scotland. This journey combines an electrifying combination of historic places and activities, from the Great Tapestry, which depicts the country's history, to the lovely pink Drumlanrig Castle. A visit to the Devil's Porridge Museum is also on the agenda, as is an afternoon at Gretna's famed Blacksmiths. Allowing you to take in the scenery and atmosphere while cruising some of Lake Districts most famous waterways.

An Historic Marriage House, the 3-star Gretna Hall is a fourth-generation family business. Originally built in 1710 as a private manor house, it is set in 10 acres of beautiful gardens. Offering all the character of a substantial historical building, with all the comfort you would expect from a contemporary hotel, it is just a short walk to the famous Blacksmith's Shop. It has a restaurant and bar, garden area, TV, tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryer.  The hotel does not have a lift.
