Door to Door Service. Discover beautiful Waddesdon Manor and Gardens, Baron de Rothschild's extravagant Renaissance style Manor, home to a collection of fine art and of the finest Victorian Gardens in Britain.
Oxford in the Best Manor
Visit the playground of the rich and famous at Waddesdon Manor, the ornate and lavish home built by Baron de Rothschild in the Vale of Aylesbury (or Rothschildshire as it was fondly dubbed due to the number of houses in the area owned by the family). Enjoy a light lunch and guided tour around the extensive wine vaults that played a large part in this entertaining haven. Built in 1874 by Baron de Rothschild as a bolthole from London and as the ultimate entertainment mecca, the French Renaissance style chateau was home to a remarkable collection of fine art and unsurprisingly, a staggering collection of fine wines (and briefly during World War II, up to one hundred evacuated children) and continues to entertain visitors to this day under the watchful gaze of the National Trust.
Oxford might be known as a university heavyweight, home of literary giants and spies, but it holds a surprising number of quirks Poohsticks championships, the Headington shark and the time-honoured tradition of tortoise racing. Enjoy a two-hour guided walk of the City of Dreaming Spires and learn more about its history and famous landmarks, with free time in the afternoon to explore further.
Broughton Castle is a handsome fort and moated manor house set within extensive landscaped parklands, including a formal walled garden. After many years, it finally attained Castle status when Sir Thomas Wykeham obtained a license to crenellate and embattle in 1406, giving the manor house a military appearance and thus the Castle came into being.
Complemented with a sixty-minute round trip river cruise from Caversham, this is a great wildlife cruise and will give you a real feel for the river and its surrounds.

Today we visit Waddesdon Manor, built by Baron de Rothschild in 1874 to house his remarkable collection of fine art and provide a (very) hospitable environment for his many friends! The stunning manor house is built in the style of a French Renaissance chateau, inspired by those in the Loire Valley, and has extensive grounds featuring a Rococo style Aviary, formal gardens and flamboyant array of statues and fountains. Waddesdon was created to impress, and it certainly does! After visiting the house, a light 2 course lunch is included.
This morning we visit the historic city of Oxford with its honey-gold buildings, dreaming spires and riverside setting. We enjoy a 2-hour guided walking tour of the city and learn more about its history and famous landmarks. The afternoon is free for you to explore at your leisure.
Today we head to Broughton Castle, a moated and fortified manor house near Banbury in North Oxfordshire. Set in parkland, the house was built in 1306 and the gatehouse in the early 15th century but most of what you see today dates from the 1550s. After our visit we head south to Caversham on the River Thanes from where we take a relaxing 60-minute river cruise.
Time to head home today and we'll make a stop at the popular Dobbies Garden Centre at Atherstone before continuing our journey to meet the Door-to-Door vehicles who will be waiting to take you home.
