Morgan Motor Company & Ledbury
We spend this morning at the magnificent Morgan Motor Company where we enjoy a 2 hour guided tour of the factory, watching skilled craftsmen at work as they hand make the famous Morgan bespoke sports cars. In the afternoon, we visit the timber-framed village of Ledbury where we explore its Heritage Centre, Butchers Row Folk Museum and the Painted Room leading to the fine parish church.
Day 3
Tewkesbury & Gloucester
Today we explore the medieval town of Tewkesbury in its picturesque riverside setting. Attractions include 'Out of the Hat', an exquisite example of a 17th century home and shop that now houses a Heritage Centre, Church Street, lined with half-timbered houses, Tewkesbury Museum and Tewkesbury Abbey. After lunch, we travel to Gloucester where we spend free time exploring its medieval Cathedral (used in most of the Harry Potter films as 'Hogwarts') or visiting the Victorian docks, Sharpness and the award winning Gloucester Waterways Museum overlooking the River Severn.
Day 4
Cheltenham & Painswick Rococo Garden
We start the day with leisure time in Cheltenham, exploring its unique mix of traditional and new. A firm favourite in the racing calendar with the Cheltenham Festival culminating with the famous Gold Cup, we can also enjoy exploring the Regency buildings, including the Pittville Pump Room, a throw back to its spa town history as well as The Wilson museum. In the afternoon we visit the sole surviving rococo garden of Painswick, designed in the 1740s for the owner to use as his 'playground'. Positioned in a hidden valley offering spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, featuring intriguing garden buildings, magical follies and flowers and colours that transform by the seasons.
