With clear, turquoise waters seated at the foot of the mountains and surrounded by palms, it's hardly any wonder that Lake Garda is a favourite destination for both travellers and locals alike.  Despite being situated in the North of Italy, it enjoys a milder climate that is clearly reflected in the vegetation that help make up the spectacular views of this stunning location. 

 

Included on this tour are visits to the stunning town of Sirmione, located on the southern shore of Lake Garda, famed for its thermal baths, breathtaking views and most notably, the Scaliger Castle – one of the rarest examples of lake fortification and until recently, only accessible internally.  Explore the picturesque cobbled streets of Malcesine, perfectly framed by the clear blue waters and the imposing mountain ridge behind it. 

 

There will also be a visit to the fair Verona, setting of romance and desolation on a balcony, site of the largest opera theatre in Italy and a visual celebration of 2,000 years of history, art and architecture.  Set in narrow streets and squares is a bustling atmosphere that feels as though you've stepped back in the set of an old Italian film, the city is easy to navigate on foot, which leaves you plenty of time to explore and discover for yourselves. 

 

A vibrant, opulent, historic floating city that really needs no introduction, Venice is considered one of the most romantic and unusual places to visit and is definitely on the ‘must see’ list.  There is plenty to do for the active sightseer, the art and history enthusiasts, and for the glass fanatics (and those less clumsy than your editor).  Should you fancy a less frenetic excursion (there really is a lot to do and see!)  there are plenty of places to sit and chill, eat, drink and watch the world float by.
