Lake Garda, Verona & Venice

Lake Garda, Verona & Venice

Nine days to uncover Lake Garda, a jewel of a destination and largest of the Italian lakes.

Lake Garda and Venice

Lake Garda is a jewel of a destination which is protected from the north by the Dolomite mountain range making its own microclimate of soft, warm Mediterranean weather. The region is steeped in history and tradition - you will notice the abundance of Castles and monuments that were once owned by the Scala family, rulers of Verona and its region during the late 13th and the 14th centuries, still making their mark of a by gone era.

We show you the absolute best the Trento and Lombardy region has to offer with a delightful trip to the city in the Adriatic the wonderful Venice.

Verona is and impressive and beautiful city which sits on fast flowing River Adige. You will note the old historic bridges that lead you to the centre of the city which is dominated by a remarkably well-preserved 1st-century amphitheatre in the main piazza, surrounded by trendy wine bars and restaurants. Verona is also home to the infamous balcony portrayed in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliette, although he never visited the city, he has certainly left his mark!

Malcesine is a picturesque village on the shores of the lake.  You will notice the Scala family’s presence as you approach by the impressive Castle on the lake side.

Garda Town is sometimes mistaken by its similar name sake Riva Del Garda but this delightful village is much smaller and traditional. The small winding streets lead down to the lakeside that is packed full of restaurants and wine bars.

Peschiera del Garda is situated at the south of the lake and is a beautiful fortified town which is full of small boutiques, wine bars and cafes.

Sirmione is the most beautiful town in Lake Garda.  The peninsula stretches out from the southern shore of Lake Garda and the only entrance is via the bridge of the 13th Century Scaligero castle. The colourful, narrow streets are full of interesting shops, restaurants and bars. As you venture further into the peninsula, the bustling streets give way to a peaceful landscape lined with olive trees, cypresses, and magnolias. If you walk along the shore this takes you to the tip of the peninsula where an old Roman Palace, the Grottos of Catullo, has been excavated.

Venice - Explore all the amazing nooks and side streets over the incredibly famous waterways. The list of things to do and see in Venice is endless but you must see the Rialto Bridge, St Marks Basilica, The Bridge of Sighs and The Venetian Arsenal just to name a few of the highlights of this wonderful floating city.
