Battlefields of the Somme & Ypres
Join us as we take you on the very sobering tour of the WWI battlefields, we will take you to some of the most important areas in France and Belgium to not only learn about the conflict but also pay our respects to the fallen.
Battle of the Somme.
We will visit the Canadian National Vimy Memorial for time to explore the monument and to see the still battle-scarred land before making our way to the visitor centre to learn about the Canadian effort. We will then make our way to the Lochnagar crater, created by a large mine placed beneath the German front lines on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. We will stop for lunch at Thiepval Monument before making our way to the last stop of the day, Newfoundland Memorial Park.
Ypres.
We head over to Tyne Cot cemetery to take in this beautiful but sombre area before making our way to the Memorial Museum Passchendaele for time around this fantastic museum. We will then make our way to Thiepval Monument, the site of the fallen heroes that were never recovered. After, we will then make our way to Newfoundland Park, one of only two Canadian National Historic Sites outside of Canada - the site still has the trenches cut into the landscape and is a sombre reminder of times past.

The service starts at around 19:00 and finished just beofre 20:00 after the last post bugle.
